It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Soulwax, the Belgian dance-rockers who were remixing people like Arcade Fire and Pulp not that long ago. But today, on his Beats 1 show, Zane Lowe debuted Soulwax’s massive new remix of “Let It Happen,” the mindboggling single that opened Tame Impala’s new album Currents, as Pitchfork points out. In Soulwax’s hands, “Let It Happen” is somehow even bigger. They’ve blown the song out so that it spans more than nine minutes, and they’ve beefed up the song’s funk elements, adding a strutting bassline and even more effects on Kevin Parker’s voice. It’s a big, rousing dance odyssey of a remix, and it feels way shorter than it actually is. Listen below.
Currents is out now on Interscope.
