Rioux – “Sleepwalker” (First Listen)

Erin Rioux describes his music as electronic-psychedelic, but it might not sound like you expect. “Sleepwalker,” from the Detroit/New York musician’s imminent Evolver EP, is a complex, rhythmically charged slow jam. The track is built a striking harmonic bass riff, with subtly violent programmed beats and a bleary lead vocal passive-aggressively warring for space in the mix. Internal turmoil has rarely sounded this gorgeous. Listen.

Evolver will be released with a “shape shifting virtual environment” created by Toro Y Moi associate Vinyl Williams. Here’s the EP’s tracklist:

01 “Evolver Theme”
02 “Unfeel”
03 “Sleepwalker”
04 “In Transit”
05 “Phantasm”

Evolver is out 5/4 via Connect. Pre-order it here.
