Ms. Lauryn Hill – “I’ve Got Life” (Nina Simone Cover)

Next week, the Nina Simone documentary What Happened, Miss Simone? is coming to Netflix, and shortly thereafter, RCA will be releasing a companion Simone tribute album. We’ve already heard one song from Nina Revisited: A Tribute to Nina Simone, Lauryn Hill’s cover of “Feeling Good.” And now, Ms. Hill has shared part of another cut, “I’ve Got Life,” a jazzy rap track built around a sample of Simone’s 1968 song “Ain’t Got No, I Got Life.” It’s not the full version, so it fades out pretty abruptly as a new verse is starting up, but it’s good, and you can listen below.

Nina Revisited: A Tribute to Nina Simone is out 7/10 on RCA.
