Jay-Z Pulls His Albums Off Apple Music And Spotify

Totally removed from Apple Music since writing these lines, Hova’s discography is still partially available on Spotify.

Shawn Carter, The current co-owner of Tidal plans to reserve the exclusivity of his discography to his streaming service. Even penalizing the millions of users of Apple Music and Spotify. By typing the search “Jay-Z” on Apple Music, only a few titles appear, collaborations of the artist with some peers, including Kanye West, Linkin Park, R. Kelly and Rihanna. On Spotify, we find “In My Lifetime Vol.1”, “Reasonable Doubt” and “Vol. 2 Hard Knock Life.” Not the worst achievements of the rapper, since 2 of these 3 albums are precisely regularly cited in references. It is on these projects that we find the tracks “Dead Presidents”, “The City Is Mine”, “Can I Get A,” “Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)” or “Money, Cash, Hoes,” Summing up the Jay-Z from his beginnings, from the mid to late 90’s. It will be necessary to do without the excellent “The Blueprint “and “The Black Album,” as well as “Kingdom Come” “American Gangster,” “The Blueprint 3” and “Magna Carta … Holy Grail.”

At the head of Tidal, Jay-Z could well do favoritism here. Even if Kanye West, owning some shares of Tidal, had last year evoked a possible quarrel between the MC and Apple. Spotify, for it’s part, did not comment on the case, simply confirming on Twitter that “a part of Jay-Z’s catalog had been deleted at the request of the artist.” Jigga’s albums are still available for purchase on iTunes, but also on Google Play Music.
