Scottish musician Chris Connelly is best known for his time with industrial rock giants Ministry, as well as PigFace, Revolting Cocks, and recently as a part of supergroup the High Confessions with Sonic Youth’s Steve Shelley. For the past two years, Connelly wrote and recorded his fifteenth studio album with collaborators Meshell N’dgeocello, Rebecca Pidgeon, and producer Matt Walker (Smashing Pumpkins, NIN). The result is Decibels From The Heart, a collection of sprawling rock soundscapes that borrow from Britpop, shoegaze, and glam while revealing glimmers of Connelly’s hard rock past. Lead single “Mistreated & Wild” coats Connelly’s bruised vocals with elegant strings and shining guitars. The thundering drums recall the brashness of Ministry while Claire Massey’s background vocals usher the track into the present. Hear the song below.
