Chance The Rapper wants to do things his own way.
Last week, Chance The Rapper had a major day at the Grammy Awards with three awards, including the best rap album for Coloring Book. He even surpassed big names like Drake in doing so. But the young Chi-town rapper hasn’t let success get to his head. The one that Kanye West considers as the most talented young artist of the moment has thus made the news today for turning down a $10 million record deal according to Page Six. Chance is still independent. A close friend of Chance also said,
“Every label is still trying to get him. He’s making too much on his own … He was turning down $5 million advances before, and now it’s like $10 million.” The source added, “He may do something with Apple, but not a label per se … He is going to remain independent.”
It is true that Chance The Rapper is a man who holds to his status. Some time ago, he had indeed tried to explain his approach in the press. For him, not to sign because the success is there. A success that is up to him: “people trust you when you do things properly, when you do something that is close to your heart.”
Hey, If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Right?
